Meet your Sub Camp Leader: Matt Collins

“Hey there! My name is Matt, and welcome to the Exploration Sub Camp of WINGS 2014!

I will be Sub Camp Leader for Exploration, and my team has a range of experience adding up to over 40 years’ service. The team is made up of World Scout Jamboree unit leaders, international guide leaders and Event Management Graduates.

Not only will we be supporting your group during the camp, we will be providing drop-in activities, chill out areas, and a place to meet new people from home and abroad to help you establish long-lasting friendships with Guides and Scouts from more than 20 countries around the world.

In Scouting as well as helping with local groups, I am a manager for SCAFELL SASU – the National Climbing Support Unit and a member of Queen’s Scout Working Party (QSWP). Outside of Scouting I manage Peak Pursuits Underbank Outdoor Activity Center near Sheffield.  I enjoy Climbing and Paddling.

Exploration is all about discovery. Exploring has been something we have been doing

Throughout history, explorers have been putting their lives on the line to learn more about the world around us. Whether by charting new lands or uncovering new cultures, exploration is all about reaching out to understand the world a little better.

In our Sub Camp, we want everyone to have a thoroughly amazing experience: to explore new skills, cultures, and experiences, and try everything that is on offer with a smile on their face! There will be so much to discover at WINGS 2014 and it all starts with Exploration Sub Camp!
