Archaeology
Meet your Sub Camp Leader: Renira Rutherford
“Hello, my name is Renira, I’m also known as Kanga.
I’ll be the Archaeology Sub Camp Leader and I have a wonderful team of people who will help to run our Sub Camp to make it the best place to be for a week!
I’m a Scout Leader and an Explorer Scout Leader in Somerset, and was also a Contingent Leader on an Explorer Belt Expedition to Madagascar in 2013, as well as a unit leader to the WSJ in Sweden.
When not scouting (or working!), I enjoy training my gun dog in retrieving and tricks. It is very hard to teach a dog to wink his eye, but he can do a Scout paw-shake!”
A little bit about Archaeology
Our Sub Camp theme is Archaeology. To most people, it’s probably just a tricky word to spell! However, archaeology tells us about the history of our ancestors – how people lived, what they wore, what they ate, what tools they used, and more. It’s incredibly interesting to find out about how we used to live. I sometimes wonder what will be discovered about us in 500 years’ time!
Our Sub Camp will take you on a short journey through time and discover how life used to be. As part of our Sub Camp activities, you can discover and learn some of the skills that would have been required for everyday life in the past. We look forward to meeting many of you on our Sub Camp for a WINGS experience you will never forget!
